WELCOME TO HENRY SEEMAN

Durham VFW Post 2740
Since the 1960s, Henry Seeman VFW Post 2740 has stood as a steadfast pillar for the military and veteran community in Durham. Today, we are proud to usher in a powerful new chapter. Welcome to our online home, and welcome to the future of veteran support in our region: The Veteran Co-op at Sankofa Landing .

Located in Durham’s historic Bragtown neighborhood , our brand-new, ADA-compliant facility represents a bold, unified commitment to every service member, veteran, and military family who calls Durham home .

A New Facility Built for All Veterans of Durham

For decades, saying "thank you for your service" has not been enough. Veterans need a community that actively shows up, listens, and provides real, accessible solutions. That is why VFW Post 2740 partnered with The Joel Fund and Women Veterans Support Services Inc. to create a centralized, purpose-built sanctuary .

Our brand-new space at Sankofa Landing is designed to meet the evolving needs of the modern veteran community through access and navigation:

  • Veteran Advocacy & Care: Direct VA healthcare benefits navigation, claims assistance, and localized support from Durham County Veteran Services .

  • Health & Wellness: Specialized peer support, mental health counseling, and wellness outreach tailored for veterans and military families .

  • Transition & Stability Support: Targeted employment assistance, housing stability programs, and essential crisis resources .

  • Community Connection: Dedicated meeting spaces, computer labs, peer coffee connections, and creative workshops designed to combat isolation and rebuild the military tribe .

Part of the Sankofa Landing Community

Collocated within the vibrant Sankofa Landing community , our 5,000-square-foot Co-op space stands shoulder-to-shoulder with vital neighborhood initiatives, including an office for the Bragtown Community Association . By uniting veteran-focused organizations with local neighborhood leadership, we are fostering a spirit of mutual reliance, strength, and shared community growth .

Whether you served during Vietnam, the Cold War, the Gulf War, or the post-9/11 era—or if you are an active-duty service member, National Guard member, or Reservist transitioning back to civilian life—this space belongs to you .
